KANYE WEST BBC DOCUMENTARY PROMISES TO UNCOVER ‘REVELATIONS’ ABOUT RAP ICON

Kanye West’s recent antics have been turned into an upcoming BBC documentaryand the project’s producer is promising to uncover “revelations” about the Chicago-bred mogul.

According to VarietyWe Need to Talk About Kanye has been sold to several different countries after BBC originally ordered the doc in February. Various networks in Australia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium and Finland have secured rights to the doc.

The outlet also recently spoke with Jeremy Lee, a producer on the documentary, which will be helmed by investigative journalist Mobeen Azhar, who led the charge in The Battle For Britney film exploring the pop star’s controversial conservatorship.

“Underpinned with world-class journalism and unique access to members of Ye’s inner circle, this is a revelation-driven film which sheds new light on recent events,” Lee said of what makes the doc unique.

He also explained that Kanye is indeed aware of the documentary’s production, but is in no way involved or has creative control.

“Ye’s recent behavior has prompted both condemnation and a re-evaluation of his place in popular culture,” he added of what sparked the idea of the doc.

“With recent events as a starting point, the documentary and accompanying eight-part podcast series explore Ye’s two decades in the public eye amid a rumored YE2024 election campaign.”

A premiere date is expected to be announced in the coming months. There will be an accompanying podcast element with an eight-part audio series further exploring the polarizing rap icon.

The Kanye Story, will dive deeper into certain aspects of Ye’s two-decade career, with various music industry voices lending their expertise throughout the series.

Ye has been criticized for his repeated antisemitic comments, and despite the pushback and financial loss he’s faced, he’s doubled down on his rhetoric.

Just about all of Ye’s business partnerships and brand deals have been severed, including those with adidas, Def Jam, Balenciaga, Gap, CAA and more.
